A show night in November, planned backwards from the encore

Thursday 12 November 2026: country double bill, ribs buffet, covered parking. The timing works if you start at four.

I like planning a show night backwards. Where do I want to be at 11 pm? In a warm room, not in a parking lot scraping a windshield. Work back from that and the rest falls into place.

The timeline

  • 3:30 pm — arrive along Regent Avenue, park in the covered parkade, take the skywalk.
  • 4:00 pm — check in. Drop bags, change shoes.
  • 5:00 pm — ribs at Aaltos as the buffet opens. Thursday also brings the soup, salad and dessert bar.
  • 5:50 pm — walk to the Event Centre. Doors at six.
  • 7:00 pm — show.
  • After — back to the room through the building. If you want a nightcap and you're over 18, Coors Centre Bar is open until 1 am on a Thursday.

Why November

November in Winnipeg isn't yet the deep cold of January, but it's dark early and the first serious snow can arrive any time. It's exactly the month when a hotel joined to the venue changes the evening from a logistics problem to a night out.

Two nights, two shows?

The weekend before has a pair of its own: Abba Revisited on Friday 6 November and the Manitoba Country Music Awards on Saturday 7 November. A country fan could reasonably do the awards on the 7th and Dean Brody on the 12th — but that's two trips, not one. If you only have one weekend, pick a pair of consecutive nights.

Things I'd do in advance

  • Buy tickets from the official box office or Ticketmaster — the venue won't stand behind resale tickets.
  • If you need accessible seats, use Ticketmaster's Accessible toggle on the seat map.
  • Put the show date in the request form so the desk asks for a room near the indoor route.
  • Bring your ID if you plan to visit the casino side at all; the hall itself is all ages for this show.
