Rooms · four types, few details
Rooms: what the booking engine names, and what it leaves out
Four room types, a smoke-free building, and the questions worth asking before you choose.
Illustration, not a photograph of the hotel
The hotel's booking engine — the page its "Book Now" button opens — lists exactly four kinds of accommodation. It shows no photographs of individual room types in its text, no sizes, no floor plans. That is unusual enough to say plainly. Here is the list in the engine's own order, then everything else I could confirm.
- 1 of 4
2 Queen Room
Two queen beds. The flexible choice for friends or a family.
- 2 of 4
1 King Room
One king bed. The default couples' room.
- 3 of 4
1 Bedroom Suite – King Bed
A separate bedroom with a king bed; the only suite listed.
- 4 of 4
1 Queen Room
One queen bed. A solo traveller's room.
What applies to every room
| Smoking | None. The hotel calls itself a 100% smoke-free environment, all indoor areas and guest rooms included. |
|---|---|
| Building | Six storeys, interior corridors, about 146 units — AAA's figures (secondary); Canad Inns doesn't publish a count. |
| In the room (AAA) | Coffeemaker, microwave, refrigerator, wireless internet; AAA's inspector adds a large flat-screen TV and a work desk. |
| Bathrooms (AAA) | “Updated bathrooms with spacious vanities and tub/shower combinations.” |
| Check-in / out (AAA) | 4:00 pm / 11:00 am. Confirm with the hotel — the official page doesn't state times. |
| Pets (AAA) | Not accepted in guest rooms. |
| Accessibility | Travel Manitoba's listing notes full wheelchair access and roll-in showers. Ask which room types have them. |
How the booking form counts people
The engine lets you pick from one to nine rooms, one to nine adults per room and up to seven children per room. Those are the limits of the drop-down menus, not occupancy rules, and I would not read them as a promise that nine adults fit in one queen room. The hotel does not publish maximum occupancy by type. Our desk asks before it quotes.
Choosing by season
In winter I care about three things: how far the room is from the elevator to the casino link, whether the window faces the prevailing wind, and whether there is a bathtub. Only the third is in any source — AAA's tub/shower combinations — and that one probably applies across the board. The other two are questions for the desk.
In summer the question becomes light and noise. Winnipeg's July evenings are long; ask for a room that doesn't face the parkade lights if you want to sleep before a 7 am drive to Birds Hill.
What I could not confirm
- Room sizes in square feet or metres.
- Which floors have which room types, or which windows look where.
- Whether the suite has a sofa bed or a kitchenette.
- Bed brands, pillow menus, blackout curtains.
None of these are hidden on purpose, as far as I can tell; they simply aren't published. If they matter, put them in the "anything the desk should know" box of the request form and we'll ask the hotel.
