1 Queen Room
The smallest bed in the booking engine — and, for one person, often the most sensible booking.
Illustration, not a photograph of the hotel
The 1 Queen Room comes last in the engine's list, after the suite. It has one queen bed and, as with every other type, no published size. I think of it as the solo room: one person, one bag, one night.
| Beds | One queen. |

| What AAA lists hotel-wide | Coffeemaker, microwave, refrigerator, wireless internet; tub/shower combinations. |

When I'd pick it
Alone for a show. Plenty of people go to concerts on their own. If you're one of them, there's no reason to pay for a king bed you won't use. Book the queen, eat early, take the indoor route to your seat.
A one-night stop on the Trans-Canada. The hotel's directions from the east bring you off Highway 1 and up Lagimodière Boulevard to Regent Avenue — no downtown driving. For a driver crossing the prairies, a queen room, a buffet dinner and an early start can be the whole plan.
A work trip on a budget. The same logic as the king room, with less bed.
When I wouldn't
For two adults in winter I'd step up to a king. A queen is the narrower of the two beds, and in a cold month you'll be wearing more to bed and wanting more room. That is my opinion, not a hotel fact, and you can ignore it.
Questions to send with your request
- Does the 1 Queen Room share the same bathroom layout as the larger rooms?
- Is it on the same floors as the king rooms, or grouped elsewhere?
- Can it be held for a late arrival after a long drive?
Ask for a 1 Queen Room — or compare with the 1 King Room first.
